Traveling backpacks come with an internal or an external frame. The internal one supports the backpack from within and is hidden from sight while the external ones do the same through rods which stick out of the backpack. Try to pick up one with internal frame which is lighter and has lesser chances of getting snagged on things around.

• Padded straps

Since you will be carrying the traveling backpack for a majority of your trip time, make sure the straps and the hip belt are well padded for your comfort.
